Dr. Al-Ani graduated from the University of Baghdad, School of Dentistry (Baghdad, Iraq) with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 2003. He then moved to Moscow, Russia, where he practiced dentistry in private office. He completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Masters degree from the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 2011 after which he obtained his Fellowship in Craniofacial and Cleft Lip and Palate surgery from the Peking University and Hospital of Stomatology, Beijing, China. Dr. Al-Ani was appointed as a full-time Senior Faculty at the International Medical University, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and attending at Tuanku Jaafar hospital, Seremban, Malaysia, where he carried clinical and didactic teaching responsibility for both predoctoral and postdoctoral students and residents and performed various surgical procedures at the University Hospital.
In 2013, Dr. Al-Ani was accepted to the AO fellowship at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Beth Israel Hospital, New York City, NY, and moved with his wife, Mays, to the United States. Dr. Al-Ani completed an advanced Standing DMD program from Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine this year and joined the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, where he will be supervising predoctoral and postdoctoral clinical and didactic education of students and residents rotating in the department. He currently resides in Brookline with his wife Mays, who is a current BU dental student, his son, Taim (5 years) and daughter, Meela (4 years). He looks forward to being part of the BU OMFS team and sharing his previous experiences.
